18.12.2012 The Kosovo Environment Protection Agency (KEPA) held a closing event of its activities for 2012, at which the Executive Chief of KEPA, Dr. sc. Ilir Morina assessed that the agency achieved a wide rang of results during the year for a better environment and its protection in our country.
At the occasion Mr. Morina presented the reports prepared by KEPA: Report on Environment Hotspots and Report of Air Quality.
The Deputy Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Mr. Ilir Mirena said that during the year thanks to the support of the European Commission an excellent work has been done in completing of the network for air quality control throughout Kosovo territory.
He assessed that as the result of the work the project has been successfully implemented in all Kosovo territory. He also put an emphasizes on the implementation of KEPAs twinning project Support for Environment Sector in Kosovo, which was evaluated as the most successful environmental project by all sides involved.
During the presentation of reports, participants reiterated that both reports are of big importance on informing the public opinion over the situation of environment in our country, and at the same time they are useful documents not only for the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP) but also for other institutions. As such, based on the content of these reports our institutions can design their policies and activities aimed at eliminating of problems and meeting the challenges identified for better environment in Kosovo.
The reports are also a good bases for cooperation with European and international donors in designing of environment projects in the future.
When it comes to the cooperation of KEPA with European Environment Agency (EEA), participants said that KEPA was successfully incorporated in working program of EEA through various exchanges, reports, participation at different meetings and conferences, training of KEPAs staff and other activities related.
At the end of the meeting a presentation of the research Environment in the press was made, followed by the ceremony of signature of Memorandum of Cooperation between KEPA and NIPH and a handover of equipment for air quality monitoring.
