KEPA receives Austrian and Czech experiences in the management of environmental issues.

19.10.2012 - A delegation from the Environmental Protection Agency of Kosovo, led by Chief Dr.sc. Ilir Morina, from 08/10/2012 until 12/10/2012, has visited the Austrian Environment Agency UBA and the Czech Environmental Information Agency-CENIA.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the cooperation with these environmental institutions, the European Environment Agency and EIONET network. It was also to gain experience in the preparation of national reports at the request of the EEA, and EU member states' experience in managing environmental issues.
During their visit to theAustrian Environment Agency, the Kosovos data at the EIONET Network has been discussed, and all Kosovos reports submitted to the EEA during 2011 and first half of 2012 are analyzed.
Austrian Environment Agency provided advice to improve the quality of sectorial reports, the quality of data that is sent to the EEA and the strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation depending on the flow of the data. Shortcomings of reports were analyzed and so have the measures that can be taken to improve their data quality, as well as quantity. It was also discussed about the final stages of the twinning project, achievements, shortcomings and opportunities for continued cooperation in future projects.
However, during their stay in the Czech, KEPA experts had meetings where they gained experiences in the field of international cooperation of the Czech Environmental Information Agency, with special emphasis on strengthening cooperation with local and international institutions including the EEA. Its was also analyzed and discussed the possibilities of developing joint projects between KEPA and CENIA and the possibilities of cooperation in the IPA program.
During their visit to CENIA, specific issues were discussed, such as: waste management, environmental data collection and their classification, adaptation according to EEA, the preparation of reports on the state of the environment, as well as national and international cooperation in the implementation of environmental projects.
